Trusted PINs on TimeWorksTouch

If an employee fingerprint cannot be enrolled on the TimeWorksTouch clock due to worn and unreadable fingerprints, the solution is to allow them to use a PIN or Prox card to identify themselves at the clock. Unlike our other biometric clocks, TimeWorksTouch does not use “Trusted PINs” in these cases. The following article explains the alternative to Trusted PINs on TimeWorksTouch.

Allow an Employee to Use a PIN Instead of Fingerprint

  1. Ensure that “PIN” is an enabled collection method on TimeWorksTouch
    1. Tap the Settings icon (gear) on the clock entry screen
    2. Login with timekeeping credentials
    3. Select Clock Settings tab
    4. Toggle ON PIN
    5. Tap the X icon to exit settings and return to the clock entry screen
  2. In Employee Setup of the timekeeping system, enter a numeric PIN in the Logins* section for the selected employee

This employee can clock in with a PIN
  3. Save the changes to Employee Setup
The employee can now use that PIN on the clock.

*Any PIN or Prox number that will be used on TimeWorksTouch must be entered in 1 of the first 3 fields in the Logins section.

Allow an Employee to Use a Prox Card Instead of Fingerprint

  1. Ensure that “Prox” is an enabled collection method on TimeWorksTouch
    1. Tap the Settings icon (gear) on the clock entry screen
    2. Login with timekeeping credentials
    3. Select Clock Settings tab
    4. Toggle ON Prox
    5. Tap the X icon to exit settings and return to the clock entry screen
  2. In Employee Setup of the timekeeping system, enter the card number in the Logins* section for the selected employee
  3. Save the changes to Employee Setup
The employee can now use that card on the clock.

*Any PIN or Prox number that will be used on TimeWorksTouch must be entered in 1 of the first 3 fields in the Logins section.

Require an Employee to Use a Fingerprint

TimeWorksTouch, unlike our other biometric clocks, does not require a PIN for fingerprint enrollment. This means, in Employee Setup, you should not enter a PIN for employees you want to use a fingerprint. To check if an employee has a PIN:

The indicated employees could
use a PIN on TimeWorksTouch
  1. In the timekeeping system, select Employee Setup
  2. Under the Logins column on the employee listing page, you should be able to see all the assigned numbers and logins for employees
  3. If an employee has a PIN (a numeric value, not alphanumeric) in the Logins column, it means they could use that number to clock in instead of their fingerprint. To remove that PIN
    1. Select the employee by name
    2. Click the Edit button above the Logins section
    3. Click Delete existing numbers
    4. Delete the PIN
    5. Save the changes

This employee must use their fingerprint on the clock
Employee Self Service access can be given with an alphanumeric login. Since TimeWorksTouch doesn’t accept letters on the clock entry screen, an employee will not be able to use that login to clock in and out.
